Obituary

Charles Michael, "Chuck," Camp (67) passed away June 30, 2018, after a sudden and short illness in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born March 4, 1951, in

Charlotte, North Carolina, to Bernard G. and Margaret O'Neill Camp, Chuck lived in Wisconsin, Georgia, and Alabama while growing up. He attended Auburn University, where he studied horticulture and met his wife of 27 years, Mimzie Camp. They lived in North Carolina before moving to Oklahoma in the early 1980s to raise their three children together.

Chuck spent the latter part of his career working in the garden center at Lowe's as a garden specialist. During this time, he was able to combine his love of plants with his love for helping people. Chuck was generous and thoughtful, going out of his way to help his friends and family. The last couple of years of his life, Chuck embraced the simple life and moved to Chandler, Oklahoma, where he quickly acclimated to life on the farm. He lived out his dream of living in the country, caring for goats and chickens as well as having his own garden. Always looking for ways to help others, Chuck was working on plans to partner with a local nursing home to start a nursery to share his love of plants, give the residents the opportunity to work in a garden, and enjoy nature. One of his greatest accomplishments was being "Pappaw" to his three grandchildren. He never wasted an opportunity to show them that he was thinking about them and that he loved them. He knew the importance of "showing up" and exemplified this in the unwavering support he gave his children, grandchildren, and those fortunate to be called "friend." He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by by daughters Laura McDonald and grandson, Grant and Catherine Jones, her husband Garett, and their two children Carrigan and

Conner; and son, Andrew Camp.

To celebrate Chuck Camp's life, the family has planned a graveside service at Fairview Navina Cemetery July 21, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.

To honor Chuck's spirit of generosity, a memorial donation may be made in his name to the YWCA of Oklahoma City, www.ywca.org/donate.
