Charles "Chuck" Wesley
Prather, Jr.
Sep 25, 1952 — Aug 3, 2026
Edmond
Charles “Chuck” Prather, Jr. passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026 in Oklahoma City, with his family near his bedside.
Chuck was born September 25, 1952 in Washington, D.C. to Charles W. Prather, Sr. and Mabel G. Wolfe.
In 1969, Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country overseas during the Vietnam War. In 1972, Chuck returned to the United States. Chuck became a father in 1973 and was blessed with his son, Charles “Chuck” Lee Prather. Chuck was a hard-working father and always made sure his family’s needs were met.
Chuck worked for Seagate for many years and owned his own golf store. Chuck began his career in furniture sales at Mathis Brother’s Furniture in Oklahoma City. Chuck had an innate ability to connect with his coworkers and customers alike. His career at Mathis spanned over 30 years and in that time, he made many lifelong friends and touched countless lives.
When he wasn’t working, Chuck could be found teeing up with his buddies or spending time at the lake with his family and close friends. He loved being outdoors and enjoying nature with those near and dear to him. Of course, above all, Chuck loved his family. Spending time with his son and his grandchildren were at the top of his list. He took time to make special memories with his family out at the lake, trying out a new restaurant or passing on his golf wisdom to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Chuck will always be remembered for his generosity, selflessness, and unwavering loyalty. He was full of jokes, laughter, love and the kind of wisdom that didn’t always come from words, but from the way he lived his life. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones, but his memory will live on through the legacy he has left behind.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Prather Sr. and Mabel G. Prather; wife, Karen Jeanne Meler-Prather; and sister Billie Davis.
Chuck leaves cherished memories with his son, Chuck L. Prather and wife Leanda; Brother Tommy Prather; Sister Pat Donahue and husband Bill; Granddaughter, Nicole Prather and spouse Anthony; Grandsons, Blake Prather, Ashton Prather and Fiancé Abby; Great Granddaughter, Isabella Page; & Great Grandson Austin Prather. Girlfriend Jolinda Peralta, whom Chuck loved dearly; as well as numerous extended loving family members, a host of golf buddy’s & lake pals, and last but not least his furry baby CoCo.
