Obituary

If you are reading this, Charles Harris has “Putted Out.”

On May 26, 2026, Charles Thomas Harris, a lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, moved on to spend eternity with his Heavenly Father and friends and family who went before him.

Charles was born on February 27, 1937. He graduated high school in 1955 at Capital Hill High School. Not convinced that he was college material, Charles learned the trade of operating a printing press and went to work for the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily printing tax forms.

Charles with his first wife, Carolyn, was blessed with two sons. Charles (Chuck) Allen Harris, and Curtis (Curt) Lance Harris. Following his marriage to Barbara he adopted her children, Cecelia (Ces) Ann Vorse, and Bradley (Brad) Wayne Harris who graciously accepted and loved him, all four children showered him with so much love.

Charles was blessed with two unbelievable grandchildren, Christy Delano (Craig) and Boston Harris (Jordan) who have given him a lifetime of love.

His children blessed him with cherished spouses, Dr. Hal Vorse(deceased), Molly Harris, and Joni Harris. More blessings have come with treasured great granddaughter, Charlie Delano and great grandson Cy Delano.

Charles is survived by two sisters, Bette Zweibel and Sandi Harris and a host of nieces and nephews. Proceeding him in death are his father, Henry Thomas Harris, Mother Agnes Elizabeth Harris, Sister Jo Rodman, and his amazing wife of 54 years, Barbara Harris.

Charles and Barbara were proud Realtors and owners of Abide Realtors, later known as Prudential Real Estate. Barbara loved sales and was well known as one of the top Realtors in Oklahoma and the nation. Charles was in management and besides managing the company he was devoted to the Oklahoma City Board of Realtors and the State plus National Associations.

In Oklahoma City he served as President in 1979 and President of the Year in 1982 and Oklahoma State Association in 1989. Charles was Oklahoma Realtor of the Year in 1982 and Oklahoma State Association Realtor of the Year in 1991. Charles loved teaching, earned Oklahoma State Association Instructor of the Year in 1982. The Governor appointed him to the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission in 1985 and he served as Chairman in 1987.

Charles and Barbara enjoyed being members of The Greens Country Club for over 50 years and have been blessed with countless friends and golf buddies!

Most important Charles loved the Lord and many times even though he strayed away, the lessons he learned in a Christian home and growing up in church brought him safely back by the gracious gift of God. Being a part of Crossings Community Church for the last 25 years plus years has been another of Gods great blessings. Charles favorite quotes were “I know He Is and I Am His.” And “Because He Lives, I Can Face Tomorrow, Because He Lives All Fear Is Gone.”

Be happy and know that Charles is with God.
