Obituary

Wallace, Charles Pressly, 77, of OKC, passed away Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 in OKC. Mr. Wallace was born February 18, 1933 to William Albert and Mildred Etta (Pressly) Wallace, Sr. in Houston, Texas. His ministry as a pastor lasted for fifty years, beginning at Woodlawn Methodist Church, Woodlawn, OK, serving in 15 churches in Oklahoma and Kentucky. In Kentucky, he was the preacher in Salem and Paul's Grove during his time at Asbury Theological Seminary. In Oklahoma began his association with the Oklahoma Conference in 1958 at Woodlawn during his years at Oklahoma City University. Later he served in several Oklahoma churches including, Alex, Epworth Chickasha, Choctaw, Nicoma Park, Hugo, Weatherford, Pryor, and Guymon. He also served in the following OKC churches, Southern Hills, The Village, Linwood, and Lambuth. During these years he kept journals that included poetry he penned over many years. These poems were later published in his book, In Awesome Wonder. Mr. Wallace proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 brothers, William Albert Wallace, Jr. and James
Lawrence Wallace. Survivors include wife, Donna Jean Kane Wallace (OKC); son, Charles "Chip" Pressly Wallace Jr. (Houston); daughter, Deborah Jean Wallace (OKC); grandchildren Evelyn Grace and Noah Elliott Wallace (Houston); and daughter-in-law, Karen Jenkins Wallace. Mr. Wallace was also the father figure for over 30 years to his nephews, William Albert Wallace III and Benjamin Blaine Wallace (Houston); and nieces, Babette Wallace Donaldson (Nevada City, CA), Heather Wallace Daniels (Kissimmee, FL), and Dawn Wallace Riegner (Monroe, NY).
