Charles Wilkerson's visions were fulfilled when he went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 23rd, 2015 at VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was of 94 years old. Charles was born May 31, 1920 in Chesterfield, Utah to his parents, William Elbert and Inez May (Cartwright) Wilkerson. He was born the fourth of ten children. Charles grew up in Utah and graduated high school there in 1940. That same year, Charles joined the Army Air Corp and served during World War II. He served in Puerto Rico and Ohio and was later honorably discharged in 1945. In June 1944, Charles married Nadine Benson in Salt Lake City, Utah. To this union was born two daughters, Judy and Nancy. Upon his honorable discharge, the family moved back to Oklahoma, where he joined the Air Force Reserves and served at Tinker Air Force Base for three years. Charles was proud to serve his country and later went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic. Charles was ordained to the Ministry by the Independent Assemblies of God in January 1958. He married Mary Phillips on September 5, 1958 and together they had 55 wonderful years together, before her passing on March 1, 2014. Charles and Mary loved serving God and ministering to people. They were involved in hospital visitation ministry for OKC Faith Church for many years, until their health no longer allowed them to participate. Charles loved his church and served there as a Deacon, a teacher, alter counselor and greeter. He was a great Bible scholar and loved to talk about the Word of God. Charles enjoyed raising a garden and then sharing his bounty with others. Mary's family appreciated Charles very much for the way he loved Mary and took wonderful care of her, rarely ever leaving her side. He will be dearly missed by his loved ones, but we celebrate the fact that He is home with the Lord. Charles was preceded in death by his: Parents; Siblings; Daughter, Nancy Burton; 4 Sons-in-law; 3 Grandchildren; Wife of 55 years, Mary Wilkerson. Charles is survived by his: Daughter, Judy Roberts and her husband, Jackie; 4 Step-children: Kenny Skaggs and his wife, Norma, Dorothy Martin, Laura Reynolds, Betty Paxton and her husband, Clark; 20 Grandchildren; 54 Great Grandchildren; 57 Great-Great Grandchildren. His family would like to thank the nurses, Ginger and Rebecca, and the rest of the crew, on the 4th floor palliative care, at VA hospital for their personal and loving care of Charles. They also want to thank the nurses and staff at Meadowlake Estates Nursing Home for their special care, these last two years.
