Obituary

Charlie Ahhaitty, fondly known as "Charliebugs" by his family and friends, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the age of 80. Charlie, the son of Reuben Ahhaitty, Sr., and Wanda June Sands Ahpeatone, was born July 18, 1944, at the Lawton Indian Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. While growing up, Charlie attended Carnegie Schools in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Charlie served in the U.S. Army 553rd Pontoon Float Bridge Company. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, then at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Charlie met the love of his life, Annabell Kodaseet, and they were married on August 28,1965, in Littleton, Colorado. Together they shared 59 years of marriage and were blessed with 2 children, Tonya and Brent. Charlie attended Technical School in Denver, Colorado where he studied drafting. His drafting skills led him into the Oil and Gas Industry as a Vessel Piping Designer. Charlie honed his specialty and crafted his focus on pursuing a successful career in vessel and pipe design and manufacturing. He successfully owned and operated his own company, Charlie Ahhaitty Enterprises for over 40 years, in which he contracted work with many major oil companies.

Charlie was a great provider for his family. His career gave him the opportunity to travel to various countries to include Venezuela, Colombia, and Africa. It was during this time that Charlie learned to fly and earned his pilot's license. He was proud to have owned his own airplane, a Cherokee 6/260. Charlie could always be found burning some rubber out on the open road, riding his red Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was co-founder and a longtime active member of the Oklahoma Indian Bikers Motorcycle Club, who he considered his family. When he wasn't out on the open road, Charlie could be found working out in the weight room and perfecting his power-lifting skills for Power-lifting Competitions, in which he won many prizes and trophies for his accomplishments over those years. Charlie's true happiness in life was his family and his Kiowa Native American Heritage. Charlie was proud to be a member of the Kiowa Gourd Clan. Nothing was more important to Charlie than spending time with his family. Throughout his life's endeavors, many activities and worldly travels, Charlie remained constant in his devout love and service to the Lord. Always remaining faithful and selfless, with a servant's heart. He enjoyed worshiping as a longtime member of the First Indian Baptist Church of Moore, Oklahoma, where he volunteered for many church activities. Charlie left a tremendous legacy that will continue to live on through each of us and he will be held close to our hearts each day.
