Guffin
February 19, 1935 – September 22, 2025
Chester John Guffin, Jr. passed away at his home on September 22, 2025, at the age of 90. He was born to Chester John Guffin, Sr. and Roxie Mae (Potts) Guffin on February 19, 1935, in Oklahoma City, OK.
John grew up in Bartlesville, OK. He loved swimming and was a charter member of the Phillips 66 Splash Club. John graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 and went on to serve his country in the Air Force Reserves. He spent his career as a Human Resources Director for many manufacturing companies in Arkansas and across Oklahoma.
John's natural ability to solve problems served him well in this profession. He had many hobbies which included playing sports like tennis and golf, and he loved watching OU football. He loved swimming and was an avid reader. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and especially loved visiting with his grandchildren. He loved animals and his beloved Jack Russel Terrier, Jack, will miss him terribly.
John will be remembered for his story telling abilities, quick-witted jokes and lively sense of humor. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chet and Roxie Guffin and his son Mark Guffin. John is survived by his wife Shirley Guffin of the home, his son John and his wife Susan Guffin of Olive Branch, Mississippi, his daughter Anne and her husband Aaron Ball of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his grandchildren, Rachel Guffin, John Guffin II, and Cassandra Beechwood Hall.
Visitation will be held at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary 13125 N. MacArthur Oklahoma City, OK 73142 on Friday September 26, 2025, between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Graveside services will take place on Saturday September 27, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK.
Donations may be made to Alzheimer's research or a charity of choice.
