Colena Mae (Sutherland) Gray passed away peacefully on Monday, June 1, 2015 in Wichita, KS. She was born May 29, 1925 in Superior, Wisconsin the daughter of John Peter and Ethel Jane (McKenzie) Sutherland. She grew up in Superior and graduated from Central High School in 1943. She married Vincent Francis Gray in 1946. Together they raised four children. Their early married life was in Indianapolis, IN until they were transferred in 1961 to Oklahoma City, OK. Colena belonged to Eastern Star and was active with her children in Rainbows and scouting. She worked at Grace United Methodist Church at Mother's Day Out. She also volunteered at Deaconess Hospital. Colena was a life-long lover of dogs and the family was never without at least one four-legged family member. Colena moved to Wichita in 2004 where she resided with her daughter. Colena is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, James Ross Sutherland and his wife Shirley, John Eugene Sutherland and his wife Betty; sister, Caroline Mary Elizabeth Kenville and grandchild Randy Mote. She is survived by her daughter, Ethel Irene Lahti (Robert) of Duluth, MN, son, V. Ross Gray (Rose) of Afton, OK, Eugene R Gray (Cindy), Oklahoma City; daughter Caroline M. Gray of Wichita, KS, and five grandchildren, Shaun Gray(Emily) of Lincoln, NE, Benjamin Gray of Tulsa, OK, Briana Lahti and Gregory Lahti of Minneapolis, MN and Gary Mote of Baltimore, MD; her great grandchildren, Kaleb and Wren Gray of Lincoln, NE Brodie and Axton Mote of Tulsa, OK and many nieces and nephews.
