Darrin Wade Thompson, 59, passed away at Norman Regional Hospital on Wednesday September 18, 2024.
Darrin was born October 10, 1964 in Enid, Oklahoma. Throughout his younger years, Darrin played sports any chance he could. He played baseball and football on pee wee teams and throughout Jr. High and High School. Unbeknownst to many, he was even involved with Show Choir in high school. In 1982, Darrin graduated from Chisholm High School in Enid.
Following graduation Darrin enrolled in Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma. During his college years he decided to take a break and begin working in the Oilfield. He started working with a pipeline company and that would begin his nearly life-long career working in Oil & Gas. Darrin owned Genesis Communications and later ECA-AST, LLC, which he's operated for the last 15 years. He was very proud of his work and would do anything to make his customers happy.
Darrin was a loving husband and a proud father. He loved his family dearly and worked hard to make sure their needs were always met. Darrin's affinity for sports helped bring he, and his children closer together over the years. He was very involved in their sports activities and coached many of their teams. When he wasn't coaching, he could be found sitting with Kim supportively critiquing from the bleachers or the outfield fence. Aside from being a father, Darrin was a Pappy to four beautiful grandchildren. Each and every one of them had him wrapped around their finger.
Darrin didn't have many hobbies aside from spending time with his family, but he did love watching OU Football and pulling pranks on his family and friends. He could also often be found sitting on his tailgate watching his sprinklers water the grass!
Darrin will always be remembered for his big laugh and fun smile that would light up just about any room. His favorite thing to do was to make people laugh!
