David Dutton passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, July 14, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on September 14, 1950.

David was a 1968 graduate of Capitol Hill High School. There he met his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Carol. They were married in 1970.

In 1972 David graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma. He immediately left for basic training in the Air Force Reserves. He served for eight years.

Upon returning to Oklahoma City after training, David met Gene McCrory, a USAF Lieutenant Colonel and President of North American Insurance Agency which would later become INSURICA. Gene recruited him away from owning a Tastee Freeze restaurant and into the insurance industry. That was the beginning of David's 50 years with INSURICA.

David was a past president of the Independent Agents Association of Greater OKC. He was member of the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma Association of Insurance Agents. David was also an Oklahoma City branch manager for INSURICA. Later, he earned numerous sales awards. Through sales he received many invitations to Eagle Squadron trips and most recently, Partner Club celebrations. He was a Vice President of INSURICA.

During his fifty years, David developed a large client base and earned the respect and friendship of many. He was loyal to his employer. He loved his clients and fellow employees. David loved to work. David never retired!

In the spring of 1977, David accepted the Lord and was baptized. He became a faithful follower. He intentionally endeavored to be a good, kind, honest, loving man and took his young family to church. He was a Deacon at Antioch Christian Church.

David loved life and his family. He was a devoted husband to Carol and a wonderful father to Brian and Jana. Never failing to support, teach, love, and defend and protect them in education, sports, activities, and marriage. He was an advisor and friend. Family vacations were a highlight of his life. Grandchildren increased his joy exponentially! He was his family's quiet supporter.

Golf and old friends filled many days. David played golf for 38 years with the same group on Saturday mornings. In their younger years, David, Dennis, and Mike established the "Real Men's Golf Association" and played year-round. David loved to travel and play and looked forward to annual events such as the Derry Meyers and Chubb Charity Classic.

Travel and golf were a major source of entertainment for David and Carol. He taught Carol to play golf and they played hundreds of rounds together each year. They traveled to play famous golf courses and "Yes," he took his wife to Pebble Beach!

David loved to say, "I have had one city, one wife and one employer!"

David was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Chris Dutton.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Brian Dutton, wife Heather and their sons Carson and Connor of Colleyville, TX; his daughter, Jana Atchley, her husband Chad and their daughters, Madison and Makenzi of Colleyville, TX; sister, Charlotte Rowland of Newcastle, OK; sister, Marsha Black of Okarche, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
