IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Wayne
Foote
October 27, 1958 – March 15, 2024
David W. Foote, 65, surrounded by his family was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2024.
A lifelong resident of Oklahoma City, David was born on October 27, 1958 in Oklahoma City to Herman Henry and Nellie Imogene (Huffman) Foote. David was a former member of Capitol Hill Baptist Church where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized as a young man.
David graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1976. Immediately following graduation he began working for Grider's Discount Foods. David worked in numerous positions at the store including grocery bagger, checker and finally as a Food and Merchandise Stocker. After 20 years of service he left Grider's in 1995. He immediately began a career with Wal-Mart working in various departments of the store, following 19 years of employment he retired in 2014.
David married the love of his life Mary Diane Stelting on February 14, 1983 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel & Saint Therese, aka, Little Flower Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
David possessed a very competitive spirit! He was a very good athlete playing softball for many years with the "Psycho's." He was quite often called by other teams when they needed a player. David also loved bowling and was active in leagues at Penn 44, Moore Bowl and Meridian Lanes. He was also quite handy with a pool cue and frequented many of the south side pool halls throughout the years. He also enjoyed watching all Western & Cowboy movies.
David was also a prolific collector of many unique items from Hot Wheels Cars to Baseballs from every Major League team. He was a St Louis Cardinals loyal fan and followed his favorite player Mark McGwire's career through his 16 seasons in the Major Leagues. As you would expect, he collected everything "Mark" he could find. He also followed the careers of many sports legends of his time-- Muhammad Ali and Tiger Woods, just to name a few.
