IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David Wayne
Harrell
May 29, 1951 – November 29, 2025
David Wayne Harrell went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at the age of 74.
David passed away at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City. Our family is thankful that David is no longer in the tremendous pain he experienced in suffering with Rheumatoid Arthritis in his back and diabetic issues attributed to Agent Orange exposure during his service in Vietnam.
David was born May 29, 1951 in Wynnewood, OK to Herbert Wayne and Eloise Clarice (Casto) Harrell. He was raised in the communities of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; May, Texas; Shawnee, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. David's father worked in the oilfield business and the family moved numerous times before settling in south Oklahoma City, where David attended Jefferson Junior High School, then U. S. Grant High School, and Southeast High School where he graduated in 1969.
David met the love of his life, Marilyn, at Southeast High School where they were both in the Spartan Band. David attended East Central University for one year on Music Scholarship before joining the US Navy in January 1971. David and Marilyn were married on March 27, 1971 and lived in Jacksonville, Florida until July 1971, when David was assigned to the USS Enterprise and stationed in Vietnam. David was a member of the VA196 squadron as an Aviation Ordinance Technician. He completed two and a half deployments on the Enterprise, making lifelong friends that he still kept in touch with and visited. In between deployments, they lived in Oak Harbor, Washington for three years while stationed at Whidbey Island NAS. Their first daughter, Amanda Gail, was born there. Upon completion of his four years of service, David returned to Oklahoma City and worked for Rainbow Bread and then NOWSCO during the oilfield boom. Their second daughter, Lisa Catherine, was born during this time. David went to work for Air Liquide America in1986 until his retirement in 2018.
David was a very proud and loving father of his girls. He coached both daughters through 18 years of T-ball and softball. The whole family enjoyed traveling and camping, in between ball games and tournaments. David was also a proud Papa of four grandchildren, three boys and a girl. He enjoyed being their ride to practice and was their #1 fan for football, baseball, and archery. His hobby of lovingly rebuilding old cars and
pickups in the garage kept him out of trouble, usually! Marilyn always knew where he was, either in the garage working on a vehicle with his son-in-law, Frank, or at the ballfield. He also loved traveling and camping in their RV. Plans were in the works for another trip out west and northwest until his illness kept them home. David will continue to live on in us and through us each day. His presence with us will be deeply missed.
David was preceded in death by his:
Parents, Wayne and Eloise Harrell;
Younger Brother, Steven Harrell;
Nephew, Cory Harrell.
He leaves cherished and precious memories with those who survive, his;
Loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Marilyn Beth (Willis) Harrell;
Daughter, Amanda Gail Stubbs and her husband, Frank;
Daughter, Lisa Keneda;
Four grandchildren: Braydon and Ashton Keneda and Madison and Zayne Stubbs;
