Obituary

Debra Darlene Bruce-Atherton met her Heavenly Father at the age of 67. She was born November 27, 1956, at St Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City to the parents of Dewey Bruce and Margaret Pearson-Bruce. She graduated from Carl Albert High School in 1974. She was a lifelong resident of the Oklahoma City area.

Debra was in the medical work force for 33 years as a Laboratory Processor at Medical Arts Laboratory and St Anthony Hospital. She was well known and respected in the industry. Through the years, Debra received awards and recognition for superior job performance. At the age of 66 years old she retired.

Debra lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. She always had a bright smile and something nice to say about everyone and was always willing to assist anyone who might need a helping hand. She knew how to make you laugh on your worst day. Her friendly personality made her someone you wanted to know.

Debra was a faithful member of OKC Faith Church for 25 years. She shared her faith daily and encouraged many friends and coworkers to seek Christ. She especially enjoyed spending time with her daughter Amber and traveling to gospel and country concerts with her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, brother, Jerry Bruce, and brother-in-law, Woody Dancer. Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Amber Rochelle Atherton-Rising and husband Brad; brothers, Dewey Jr. & wife, Myrna, Sam & wife, Sandra; and sister, Linda Dancer. She is survived by 5 nieces and 5 nephews. Also survived by 12 great nieces, 10 great nephews and 11 great-great nieces and nephews, as well as one very dear cousin Susie Pearson Ogg. Also, a host of family and friends.

Debra has built a wonderful legacy and example of faithfulness, love, and commitment for her family and friends. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
