Delbert "Dale" Higgins, 86, of Oklahoma City, passed away November 6, 2021. He was born May 12, 1935 in Mangum, OK to Delbert Andrew and Ora Benita (Barnes) Higgins. Dale had been enjoying his retirement after over 30 years as a successful car salesman. Retirement allowed for more time to spend with the love of his life, wife of 54 years, Eddie "Sue" (Strohfield). Dale loved to travel with Sue, especially those trips to Las Vegas. Dale loved everything he got to do with Sue, particularly the adventure of raising children and watching their family grow. He loved spending time with family. Holidays were a great joy for him, Easter specifically. His grandchildren would affirm that he was the master of all Easter egg hunts. No one took hiding eggs more seriously than Delbert Dale Higgins. And no one could tell better stories. Everyone who knew Dale knew that the man could spin a tale. He'd done fascinating things and met interesting people, both on his travels and on car lots. But his favorite story to tell was about the time that Lou Costello bought him an ice cream cone when he was a kid. Dale knew how to have a good time, whether playing slots at the casino, watching a boxing match or football game, or simply hanging out at his house with his dog Sissy and fish Joe. He loved his family dearly, and even after Sue's passing in 2009, Dale still visited her at the cemetery every birthday, anniversary, and holiday. His greatest achievement had been the life they had built together, the legacy his own children and grandchildren would continue. His winning smile and mischievous sense of humor will be forever cherished by those who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Ora Higgins; his beloved, Sue Higgins; his son, Steven Andrew; his daughter, Catherine Anne Netherton; his sister and her husband, Melba and John Keel; and his son-in-law, Timothy Pranter. He is survived by his son, Dennis Higgins and wife, Daisy; his daughter, Connie Pranter-Thompson and husband, Chuck; his sister, Linda White; his daughter-in-law, Juanita Higgins; his grandchildren, Derrick Higgins, Gennifer and Mike Sandersfeld, Garrett and Brittnie Pranter, Gabriel and Shellie Pranter, Nicholas Netherton, Jacob Netherton, and Justyn Phinney; as well as nine great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the health care professionals who cared for Dale over the last five months.
