IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane Elois
Irick
October 21, 1959 – June 6, 2021
Diane Elois (Copeland) Irick was born October 21, 1959 to Flois and Charles Copeland in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed away on June 6, 2021 in Oklahoma City.
Diane was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend.
She married Bruce Irick on March 15, 1980. Throughout the years, she was never happier than when she was exploring the beauty of creation with her family. Her birthday was usually celebrated by hiking in the Wichita mountains; and she, Bruce, Sheridan, and Nathan made many road trips to Southwestern Colorado to hike favorite trails and explore backroads in a rented Jeep. No matter how many times she saw them, the sight of yellow aspens covering the mountainside in the fall always filled her with awe.
Her love for and devotion to her family was second only to her love for and devotion to God. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and led Missionettes, helping countless girls memorize entire chapters of scripture and ensuring that those words would be engraved on their hearts for years to come.
She was a hard worker who never wanted to be in the spotlight but who could always be counted on to show up and lend a hand. She possessed kindness and stubbornness in equal measure and was the sort of person who knew that true strength lies in gentleness. Her life was epitomized by Jesus's call to humility, compassion, and steadfast love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Copeland, her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her step-brother, Tim Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce Irick; her daughter, Sheridan Irick; her son, Nathan Irick; her mother and step-father, Flois and Bob Thomas; her brother, Charlie Copeland; her brother Scott Copeland, his wife Angie, and their family; and her step-siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
