Dianna Joy (Whitaker) Fletcher passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 25th in Stroud, Oklahoma at the age of 81. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on June 14, 1944, to T.H. and Hazel Whitaker. Dianna was the youngest of five children and the only daughter.
Dianna enjoyed a 39-year marriage with her husband and best friend Harry Fletcher before his death in 2006. She was a devoted wife, mother, Nana, daughter and sister. From an early age, she trusted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and was grateful for His grace, strength, forgiveness and peace.
Dianna lived her life loving and caring for others. She always had a servant’s heart and felt drawn to the medical field. She attended nursing school and became an LPN in 1965 and later an RN in 1981. Dianna served in various hospital areas including labor and delivery and ICU as well as Hospice and DHS. Her favorite and final position was private duty nursing, which enabled her to devote herself to one patient at a time. Dianna had a 50-year career in nursing, retiring at the age of 70.
Dianna had a beautiful singing voice and could often be heard singing her way through the day. She loved holidays, especially cooking, decorating and spending time with her family. She loved Wheel of Fortune, slot machines, Dr. Pepper and Moon Pies!
Dianna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and several nephews.
Dianna is survived by her children:
Craig Fletcher and wife Kathy; Mike Fletcher and wife Dana; Rhonda White and husband Gary and Kristi White and husband Ted.
Grandchildren:
Dustyn White and fiancé Cassi; Colby White and wife Chelsey; Paige Heller and husband Jason; Ashlyn Holzrichter and husband Caleb; Tyler Fletcher and wife Angela; Travis Fletcher and wife Rachel; Taylor Bixler and husband Brandon; Micayla Watkins and husband Jack; Chaz Fletcher and wife Samantha and Jacob White.
Dianna was also blessed with 21 great-grandchildren.
We will miss her laughter, hugs, encouragement, guidance and never ending love. There will never be another as precious as our Mom/Nana.
We love you Mom and while we say good-bye for now, we know we will see you again!
The family would like to thank the administration and staff of The Stroud Healthcare Center as well as Luminos Hospice for their extraordinary compassion and care of our sweet lady.
