IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dolly A
Southall
May 2, 1936 – January 25, 2026
Dolly Anita Cyrell Southall went to be with her Heavenly father on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at the age of 89. The daughter of Leslie Smith (Kelly) and Marvin Southall was born May 2, 1936 in Daniels, West Virginia. Dolly was raised by her grandparents, Bessie and Charles Southall. She completed her Nursing diploma in Massachusetts. She worked as a Registered Nurse with a background in ICU. Later in life she retired as head nurse in a neurology unit at the University of Virginia that researched epilepsy treatments. The family jokingly call her a "Pot Farmer" because she planted her tomatoes in large flower pots on wheels. She constantly wheeled them out into the sun or under the cover of her patio if there was a slight chance of hail. Dolly gained many friends among the Red Hat Lady. She was very passionate about reading, wood carving, gardening and arranging flowers, but nothing was as important as being with her family whom she loved with all her heart.
Dolly was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Southall and Leslie Smith; Bessie and Charles Southall; as well as her daughter Judith Umstadter.
She leaves behind her loving family including her son, Frederick Moye Jr. and wife Joann, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Frederick "Ricky" Moye III and wife Tosha of Moore, Oklahoma, Kimberly Dart and husband Jason, of Houghtan, Michigan, and Brian Umstadter and wife Ashley, of Madison, Virginia; and Great Grandchildren, Frederick "Derick" Moye IV, Braxton Moye, Abigale Dart, Kaleigh Dart, Taylor Umstadter, Emma Umstadter, and bonus great granddaughters Ava Stonebraker, Laney Stonebraker.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Iris Memory Care on MacArthur in Oklahoma City and to Good Shepherd Hospice for their kindness and dedication. A special thank‑you goes to Connie, her hospice nurse, whose care and compassion meant so much to Dolly and the family.
Per Dolly's wishes, there will be no formal service. She will be cremated, and at a later date her family will gather to scatter her ashes at Blue Jay Cemetery in West Virginia, a place that held meaning for her, she has many family member buried there.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Dolly by remembering the good times you shared with her. Her memory lives on in the hearts of all who loved her.
