Committal will be held at 2:30pm at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
Don Leon Williams II went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 9, 2021 at the age of 76 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Don was an only child who was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on July 24, 1945 to his parents, Don Leon Williams and Bonnie Dorothy Williams (nee Botts). During his youth, he worked at his parents' grocery store, Williams Supermarket, in Anadarko. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma and served as a Captain in the US Air Force following his graduation. Don was a B-52 navigator during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross medal for his service. After leaving the Air Force, he served as an Aerospace Engineer with the Federal Aviation Association (FAA) and retired after 46 years of government service from the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City in 2014. During his younger years, he owned a red 1974 corvette stingray and was a member of the Oklahoma City Corvette Club. While stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, he met his wife and mother of his children, Mary Annette Williams (nee Hampton). Don was an upstanding stepfather to her daughter, Elisa Robin Austin (nee Robinson), before his son, Don Leon Williams III, was born in 1976, following by his daughter, Julie Annette Slaven (nee Williams), in 1978. Following a divorce, he moved back to Anadarko to care for his ailing aunt. It was then that he met his current wife, Rose Marie Williams (nee Haddon) and they welcomed a daughter, Molly Isabella Williams, in 1997. Don's most precious love was his family and he cherished spending time with them. Between 2008 and 2017, Don was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren whom he adored: Courtney, Katelyn, and William Slaven. He was a kid at heart and a proud father and grandfather. He loved to travel and he carried the lyrics in his wallet to the Disney songs "The Pirates of the Caribbean," "It's a Small World," and "The Tiki Room."
Don was a great and Godly man and one of his top priorities was his faith. He was a devoted Christian and was a member and leader throughout the years at Council Road Baptist Church, Cherokee Hills Baptist Church, and eventually the Village Baptist Church where he regularly attended services, participated in bible study, prayer meetings, and men's breakfasts, and he sang in the choir. He was also a proud and dedicated member of The Gideons International and was known to carry a small bible with him everywhere he went in every pocket of his sportscoat. Those who knew Don remember him as a loving, caring, and optimistic man. The verse Romans 8:1 was always in his heart, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit".
He leaves cherished memories with his many friends, his church family, as well as his sweet Rose, his children, and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by:
His Father, Don Leon Williams I, and his Mother, Bonnie Dorothy Williams.
