Donald (Don) H. Everett, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed from this life on Monday, March 21, 2022. Don was born in Forsyth, Missouri, on March 18, 1939. He spent his life serving God and others in numerous capacities. For many years, he taught Sunday School and served as Deacon at both Walker Avenue Baptist and Southwood Baptist Church.
A dedicated public servant, Don joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department in 1960 when he was 21 years old. He rose through the ranks and became a Captain as quickly as the system would allow before retiring in 1981 after 21 years of service. During that time, he received a commendation from the City Manager of Oklahoma City for his "quick thinking initiative" after saving the life of a fire victim.
In addition to his work as a firefighter, Don became a brick and stone mason at the age of 19 and crafted churches, schools, and homes throughout the Oklahoma City area. He loved to spend time in nature hunting and fishing with friends and family, and tending to his many cows and calves.
Don is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Sharon, to whom he was married for 64 years. He is additionally survived by his three sons, Donald Gregory and wife Marlena; Barton Todd and fianceé Rhonda; Kevin Lynn and wife Donna; nine grandchildren, Evan, Lindsi, Jeshua, Lauren, Kori, Kaitlin, Blake, Madalyn, and Elise; and four great-grandchildren.
