Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald B. Hoopert, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, who departed this world peacefully at home on June 18, 2026, after a long illness.

Don's life journey began on March 26, 1954, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he was born to the late Donald O. Hoopert and Iona Hoopert. Don's early years were spent in Oklahoma, where he graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa in 1973. His passion for learning led him to Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. This foundation set the stage for a fulfilling career and a life dedicated to family and community. He began his professional life working for the City of Jenks, Oklahoma, before embarking on a long and rewarding career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Lawton. Over 34 years, Don worked across various departments, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues before retiring.

In 1979, Don married Pamela Billen, the love of his life. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, as they celebrated 46 years of marriage, sharing countless memories filled with laughter and joy. Together, they raised two remarkable daughters, Kelly High and April Keene, who were the pride and light of his life. Don was also a devoted grandfather to Emily and Theo, his cherished grandchildren, who brought boundless joy to his days. Don's family was at the heart of his existence.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela; his daughters, Kelly and April; his grandchildren, Emily and Theo; his mother, Iona; and his siblings, Jerry and Cathy Hoopert, Jon and Janet Hoopert, and Nancy and David Anderson. He was preceded by his father, Donald O. Hoopert, and his grandparents, Joseph and Thelma Hoopert, and Ralph and Christina Swanson.

Don had quiet nature and kind heart. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, whether dove hunting with his brothers, enjoying fishing trips with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, playing golf with buddies or discovering new destinations. These passions reflect his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation, organizations close to their hearts.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Fresenius Kidney Care and INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center for their unwavering support and compassionate care during Don's illness. Don's legacy of kindness and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His spirit will continue to inspire us and he will be deeply missed.
