Shriver

Donald Edward Shriver, known by friends and family as Don, was called home by the Good Lord
on Friday, March 7th, 2025, at the age of 85. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Glen
and Iretha Shriver; wife, Kay Shriver; first wife, Eleanor Liles; son, Kevin Shriver; stepson, Scott
Morgan; grandson, Ryan Morgan; brother, Leonard Shriver; and sister, Dolores Anderson. He is
survived by daughters Donna Neeley (Bob) and Dorothy Ray (Joe); stepson Brad Morgan
(Debbie); daughter-in-law Becky Morgan; grandchildren Heather, Chris, Steven, Taylor, Aaron,
Shannon, Bryan, Jeff, Mandy, and Bryce and 15 great-grandchildren.
The son of Glen and Iretha Shriver, Don, was born on April 24th, 1939, in the front room of their
home. Don attended schools in the Oklahoma City area and graduated from Northwest Classen
High School in 1957. During high school, Don joined the Army and was Honorably Discharged
following a car accident. After graduation, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Oklahoma
City University and Certificates of Course Completion in Journalism from the University of
Northern Illinois and the University of Cincinnati. Don was also a member of Lambda Chi Alpha
during his college years at Oklahoma City University.
In April of 1960, Don married his true love, Eleanor, and they shared five years of marriage. This
union was blessed with three children: Donna, Dorothy, and Kevin. Don later married Kay
Reeves Morgan, and they were married for 47 years. Don and Kay raised her two sons, Scott
and Brad Morgan, spending many years in Toledo, Ohio.
Don's career included 38 years in the Automotive Aftermarket Industry, where he served mid-
to-upper management and executive-level positions with three major companies. Thirty years
were spent with the Champion Spark Plug Company. His career relocated him from Oklahoma
City to Toledo, Ohio, to Houston, Texas, and then to Duncanville, Texas.
Don retired from the aftermarket in 1998 to join Northwood University in Dallas as Chair of its
Automotive Aftermarket Management Department and retired as Professor Emeritus in 2009.
Don established the Department and wrote all the textbooks used in the curriculum. Later, in
2011, Don moved to Vintage Gardens to be near his Oklahoma City family.
After moving to Oklahoma City, Don became Certified by the State of Oklahoma as a Children's
Vision Screener. He volunteered to assist state representatives at various local elementary
schools in the greater Oklahoma City area as part of the Oklahoma Prevent Blindness Program.
Don was an active Master Mason, a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a Noble of the India
Temple Shrine in Oklahoma City.
While living at Vintage Gardens, he was chairman of the Vintage Gardens Friday Morning Men's
Coffee Program and other offices. Don loved living in the Vintage Gardens community, where
he had many close friends. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of the
neighbors and friends for your care, concern, and friendship.
