Obituary

Vondel Smith Mortuary (6934 S. Western Ave) Viewing will be held 4-8pm Thursday, April 8th and 4-8pm Friday, April 9th at the funeral home. Services to honor her life will be held 1:00pm Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Mae Duggan Henslee was born on December 27, 1920 to Ben and Clara Duggan in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. She peacefully passed from this life at her home surrounded by her family and into the arms of her savior on April 1, 2021. In 1939, Mae moved with her family to the Banner Community outside of Lindsey from Purcell, Oklahoma. It was there that Mae met and later married J.B. Henslee on December 30, 1939 and the two remained married for 47 years until his passing on February 22, 1987. From this union, two sons were born, Eldon and Gene Henslee. The family lived in Lindsey many years until finally moving to Oklahoma City where she continued to live until her passing. Mae was preceded in death by her son, Eldon Henslee and his daughter, Janet Ray; son, Gene Henslee, who made the ultimate sacrifice for his country; great grandson, Darren; 3 brothers, Clyde Duggan, Carl Duggan and Clarence Duggan; 4 sisters, Velma Nix, Ethel Orr, Mary Sturgeon and Faye Crain. Mae is survived by her grandsons, Tim and Scott Henslee and great grandson, Cody Henslee, all of the home; great granddaughter, Brittany, of Arizona; great grandson, Tyler, of Alaska; sister, Ada Dacus, of Red Bluff, California; daughter in law, Wanda Henslee, of Oklahoma City and numerous nieces and nephews. Mae will be remembered for having the heart of a servant and helping anyone in need and for the love she had for her savior. She will be missed by all who knew her.
