Dorathy "Dottie" Louise Mowdy passed away surrounded by family on Thursday, October 2, 2014 in Oklahoma City at the age if 89. She was born April 24, 1925 in Hughes County, Oklahoma to her parents, W. H. and Mattie (Welch) Hamby. Dottie grew up near the Wewoka/Holdenville, Oklahoma areas and lived there until she married Mike J. Mowdy on September 10, 1944. Together they shared more than 63 years of marriage until Mike's death on November 15, 2007. Dottie was blessed to have had three successful careers in her lifetime. First and foremost, she was a dedicated homemaker who loved raising her family. She also ran a beauty shop out of her home for many years, and then worked as a Senior Executive Coordinator for the Shaklee Corporation since 1976. She especially enjoyed mentoring others and helping them build a successful career. She also enjoyed china and oil painting, traveling, caring for her beloved canine companions and most of all entertaining her family & friends. Always displaying kindness and compassion for all, Dottie showed love and service to the Lord, her family and others. She will be deeply missed. Dottie was preceded in death by her: Parents; Husband, Mike J. Mowdy; Grandson, Michael Jason Mowdy; Sister, Ruby Edwards; Brothers: Lee Armon Hamby and Herman Hamby. She leaves behind her: Son, Michael Mowdy, D.O. and his wife, Jeanne; Daughter, Vickie Moore and her husband, Rick; Eight Grandchildren; Seven Great Grandchildren; Many other extended family and friends.
