IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorles Dean
Cox
August 16, 1939 – April 1, 2024
Dorles D. Cox, 84, of Mustang, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, April 1st, 2024.
Dorles was born August 16, 1939, in Strawberry, Arkansas to Denver and Lois (Walker) Doyle. She was raised in Lawrence County, Arkansas, until her family moved to Armona, CA when she was 13. Dorles loved to be at home and didn't quite enjoy being at school. In elementary school, she wanted to go home, so she tried to pull a fast one on the teacher and made up a story that her brother had died, and she needed to go home. Needless to say, that did not work. She got a bit more acclimated to school, and later found that she enjoyed singing and playing piano. She was involved with the choir in high school, and she loved to sing in multiple community and senior choirs. She graduated from Hanford High School in 1957 and shortly thereafter headed off to college.
After graduation she attended Freed–Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, but got homesick, so after one semester, she returned home. In the late 50s, while cruising Main Street in Fresno, Dorles met her future husband, Robert "Wes" Cox. Their love blossomed shortly after and the two were married June 3, 1961, in Armona, CA. They were blessed with the birth of their son, Nevin Blatte, in 1969. Dorles loved being a wife, mother and homemaker, and she always made sure her family was well taken care of.
Their family moved around quite a bit, due to Wes' position in the Air Force. They lived in Pennsylvania, Nevada, Germany, California, back to Nevada, and then finally back home in California. No matter where Wes was stationed, Dorles became active in the local church. She loved teaching Sunday School classes. Wes passed away in 2014 and Dorles remained in California until 2017, when she relocated to Oklahoma to be closer to her son and his family.
Dorles' first love was God and the Church. Anyone that knew her was aware of her love for the Lord and she wasn't afraid to share it with others. She was always so proud to be a mother and Mimi as well, and she will always be remembered for putting her family first. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but she will never be forgotten.
A memorial and singing will be held Thursday April 18th at 4:00p.m. at the Mustang Town Center Great Room.
Survivors include,
Son Nevin Cox and his wife Judy.
Grandsons, Jarrett Cox and Jace Cox
Sister, Shirley Pacifici.
