- Dorothy Maxine Blackburn
- April 8, 1928 – February 16, 2024
Dorothy entered Heavens gates on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the age of 95. The daughter of Flim Benjamin Fennell & Athel Icephene (Walker) Fennell, she was born on April 8, 1928 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She and her siblings grew up in the Holdenville area and she was a 1946 graduate of Holdenville High School. On April 5, 1947, Dorothy married the love of her life Nolen Blackburn and they relocated to Oklahoma City, where they established their family. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother, and doting Mimi, she was also a dedicated homemaker and a skilled seamstress, making many outfits for her children as they grew. Dorothy and Nolen celebrated 52 years of marriage before his passing in 1998. She enjoyed many hobbies and activities throughout her lifetime. She and Nolen loved to travel and spend time with friends dancing at the Moose Lodge. She loved watching OU football, the PGA, and game shows. She loved playing dominoes, card games and "word search" books. But above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy will be fondly remembered as a loving, compassionate, kind, generous, thoughtful woman with an infectious smile and she will be held close to our hearts each day.
