Dorothy Lee Groves, was welcomed into heaven & embraced in the arms of her savior on December 19, 2022. Dorothy was born Wilsonburg, WV to Ray H. & Rosie J. (Hall) Markley. Growing up in Guardian, WV, as the daughter of a coal miner and the oldest of nine children, she developed "true grit".
She met her husband, Troy Groves, in Zanesville, OH, and they married in 1944. Her husband was injured in the Army and sent back to the US where he was moved from military hospital to military hospital. She, along with her young son, traveled from hospital to hospital and visited him every day. Upon the amputation of his lower leg and rehabilitation, the family moved to Weatherford, OK, where Troy attended watchmaking school.
Moving to OKC, they opened a jewelry store in 1953. Troy became a bivocational minister in 1958. In addition to being a minister's wife and operating the jewelry store, she went to West Virginia in 1959 after both parents died and brought her two younger brothers to live with them and raised them as her own.
Of all her endeavors, she was a loving & devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister & friend to countless others.
