Obituary

Dorothy Danica Nixon left this world to be with God on January 9, 2009. She was a graduate of the College of the Pacific, Stockton, CA and was awarded a Masters Degree at Southern Nazarene University. She was a dedicated educator specializing in gifted and talented students. Dorothy was a published author of creative thinking curriculum aids. She enjoyed and remembered all her students over the last twenty-five years in Putnam City Schools. An avid UCLA Bruin and college football fan, she seldom missed a game. Dorothy loved life and left an impact on every person she met. An animal lover, her pets became members of the family. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-two years, James A. Nixon of Oklahoma City her son Scott Jonathan Nixon of Prague, Czech Republic two daughters Leigh Sellers and husband Bill of Sweetwater, TX and Lynne Jones and husband David of Tulsa, OK and three grandchildren Madison, Brayden, and Katelyn. Dorothy will be sorely missed by family, friends, and students. Services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at St Elijah's Orthodox Christian Church, 15000 North May Avenue, at 10:30AM. Private interment for the family will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Putnam City Public Schools Foundation, 5402 NW 40th Street, Oklahoma City OK 73122 or 405-495-5200, ext. 1205, for the Dorothy Danica Nixon Memorial Scholarship Fund.
