IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Douglas John
Dinse
May 21, 1964 – December 7, 2023
Douglas John Dinse, 59, passed away at home in Weatherford, Texas on Thursday, December 7th, 2023.
Doug was born May 21, 1964 in Carrollton, Missouri to George and Carroll (Neben) Dinse. Doug was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doug excelled in literature, writing, and science. He graduated from Moore High School. After high school Doug went on to receive a Bachelors of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from Oklahoma State University. He worked for several notable companies over the course of his career, including TGV Rockets, Kawasaki Manufacturing, and was currently employed with 9 Energy as an Engineer. He had just begun working on a team to implement LEAN manufacturing principles to the company. Doug also held a Green Belt Certification in LEAN.
In 1996, Doug married the love of his life, Robynn Buchanan, and the two just celebrated their 27th year of marriage. Together they raised three wonderful boys and at present have been blessed with four beautiful grandchildren. Doug and Robynn enjoyed listening to Science Fiction audiobooks, movies, and trying out the new restaurants in town. After moving to Texas in 2019, their favorite pastime became traveling back home to visit their family in Oklahoma.
Doug had tremendous faith in the Lord. His walk with Christ was an essential part of his life. He spent a great deal of time sharing his faith with others and referenced the joy he had for eternity often.
In his spare time, Doug enjoyed building and flying high power model rockets. While in college he successfully launched a multi-stage rocket to 26,000 feet in the Black Rock Desert. He was in the process of completing his Cert 3 rocket when he passed away from natural causes. Doug was a founding member of the Tripoli Oklahoma Rocket Club where he served as prefect for eight years. Some of his favorite projects with this group were the V-2 Rocket, flown successfully in Argonia, KS and now proudly displayed in the Oklahoma Air and Science Museum (formerly known as the Omniplex) and the DC3 From Hell, a large scale model airplane in which they pulled off the wings and "stuck a rocket motor on it." The infamous DC3 rocket went on to survive many flights. He was known as the guy in the colorful neon pith helmet at the SoonerBoomer launches in Medford, Oklahoma.
When he wasn't flying rockets or being a responsible working husband and father, Doug was expanding his knowledge into fireworks. He earned a reputation for lighting Sam's annual bonfire in creative ways and setting up the July 4th Fireworks Display for the annual picnic.
Doug has the unique ability to make a song out of any phrase, light anything imaginable on fire, and was an innocent bystander in the great "window" incident at Sam and Nila's house (which still wasn't his fault, Sam). He also loved firework displays set to music. We will always remember him as the dedicated son, husband and father.
Doug is survived by his Parents, George and Carroll Dinse. Wife, Robynn Buchanan-Dinse, step-sons, Brandon Buchanan and wife, Kaitlyn, Curtis Buchanan, and Peyton Buchanan and wife, Kaiann. His grandchildren, Hudson Buchanan, Beau Buchanan, Emerson Buchanan, and Rhett Buchanan. His brother, Ronald Dinse and wife, Susan. His sister, Debra Kellum, and Michael. His niece, Jennifer Andary and husband, Daniel, nephew, William Kellum. As well as many extended loving family members and lifelong friends.
