IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edgar Lee
Medlin
March 21, 1936 – September 13, 2024
Eddie Medlin, 88, of Moore passed away Friday, September 13th, 2024, at home with his family by his side.
Eddie was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on March 21, 1936, to Edgar, Sr. and Mabel Medlin. Eddie was raised in Muskogee and Moore, Oklahoma. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1960.
Eddie married the love of his life, Barbara Rawson on March 29, 1954. One year later they were blessed with a daughter, Debbie Anderson, and five years later with a son, Terry Medlin. In 1977, he welcomed his "number 1 grandson", Jacob. Eddie loved and adored Debbie, Terry and Jacob. On March 29, 2024, Eddie and Barbara were married for 70 years. His most cherished moments were spent with his family, including son-in-law, Mike and granddaughter-in-law, Connie.
When family members were asked "What words best describe Eddie", they replied: "He was the best Daddy anyone could ever ask for"; "He was the best man I have ever known"; he was loving, patient, faithful, kind, welcoming, devoted and hardworking.
Eddie worked hard to provide for his family and always made sure they had everything they needed. He worked for over 25 years at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City as the Grounds Superintendent. He enjoyed his work and made it a priority to make sure Resthaven's loved ones were treated with dignity and respect. Upon leaving Resthaven in 1977, Eddie and his son, Terry, worked side by side for their own company building foundations and stem walls. He retired in 2005 but never quit working. Eddie could fix absolutely anything from leaky faucets to rebuilding car engines. In fact, he added two rooms and a three-car garage to their house on Santa Fe. If he needed help, he called on the Lord for assistance.
Eddie and Barbara were both saved in the early 1960s. Eddie and Barbara have faithfully attended Capitol Hill Assembly of God for many years. They love their church family dearly. Eddie's devotion to the Lord was the cornerstone of his life. He demonstrated this by memorizing many Psalms. His unwavering faith guided his every action, from quiet moments of prayer to the compassionate way he treated others. His steadfast commitment to living according to the Bible not only inspired his family but others as well. God healed and protected Eddie during his many medical issues, including back pain, Cryptococcal Meningitis, Non-Hodgkins lymphoma, and a severe case of Covid.
When he was not working, Eddie loved traveling with Barbara and Zoyie. They graduated from camping in tents in the 1960s to a 5th wheel in the 1990s. In earlier years, they camped and fished at Texhoma. Later, they spent a month every summer in South Fork, Colorado and Eagles Nest, New Mexico where they were joined by their good friends, Carl and Pat Kuhlman. Most recently, they took shorter trips back to Texhoma. In October 2023, Eddie and Barbara took their last AY's trip to Branson. They loved every minute of it, and they said they were treated like royalty.
Eddie loved drifting for catfish and casting for surfacing sand bass at Texhoma. He also loved trout fishing in the rivers of Colorado and New Mexico. The catch of the day was always cleaned, filleted, and fried immediately upon arriving back at the campsite. His other passions were watching classic westerns and Fox News, as well as playing Canasta, Rook and participating in the monthly Bunco parties.
He was preceded to heaven by his parents, Edgar, Sr. and Mabel Medlin; Sisters, Ida Lee Medlin (Young), and Norma Jean Medlin (Matthis); Brothers, Jerry William Medlin, Gerald William Medlin, Stephen Medlin and Gary Lee Medlin.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Medlin; daughter, Debbie Anderson, her husband, Mike Anderson; son, Terry Medlin; grandson, Jacob Steele, his wife Connie Steele and her children, Katherine and Stephen Wolfe; his sister, Janie; his brother Danny; and many nieces and nephews.
