Edna Earl Newberry, 93, passed away on October 7, 2023. She was born on August 21, 1930 to Fred and Ruby Betterton in Flint Bend, Arkansas. She married Troy Newberry on July 19, 1947 in Piggott, Arkansas and they were married for 60 years before his passing. In 1960 they adopted their daughter, Patricia Ann. Edna worked for 13 ½ years at St. Anthony Hospital print shop. She was an exceptional and efficient cook. If you came over she made sure you had a meal. Her most beloved dishes were her fried pies, fried potatoes and the candy she made for the holidays. She enjoyed crocheting and made an afghan blanket for everyone in the family. She loved and supported her family. When Troy was working as an umpire at the games, you could always find Edna in the concession stands. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Doug Betterton; sisters, Joy Thurmond, Clarice Maclin, and Polly Betterton.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Newberry; brother, Bill Betterton; sister, Joyce Betterton; sister-in-law, Linda Betterton; niece, Shellie Koch and husband, Lindel; great niece, Kinsey; and many other nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Vondel Smith & Son Mortuary. A funeral service to celebrate Edna's life will be on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the South Colonial Chapel with burial at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
