Edward "Ed" Byron Carrier, Jr., was born in Oklahoma City on December 4, 1937, to Edward and Imogene Carrier. Ed grew up near SW 44th and Western in Oklahoma City where he met his lifelong friends - Pete White, James "Sweet Jimmy" Spence, and Ronnie Millican. In his youth he was very active in baseball and golf and could also sing and play the guitar. He played baseball in high school and graduated from Southeast High School in 1956. After high school he went to Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University), which he paid for by hitchhiking to Idaho and working in the Forest Service during the summers. He loved those summers and spoke of them often. In 1961, Ed joined the U.S. Army and was called up to active duty to serve during the Berlin Crisis. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E5 and returned home to Oklahoma City. After moving back to OKC, he made the decision to enroll at Central State College (now UCO) where he got a degree in Business Administration in 1964. He continued his education in Law School at Oklahoma City University (OCU). He graduated in 1969 with a Juris Doctorate degree and began his career as an attorney. For a short time, he was an attorney at Central National Bank where he met lifelong friends Larry and Mary Jo Dunham. Ed went on to partner with his good friend and fellow lawyer Pete White, and they went into business as White & Carrier, Attorneys at Law. Ed practiced law for nearly 50 years and made many friends along the way through the court system and satisfied clients. Ed was blessed with 5 Children: Lisa, Stephanie, Trey, Carson and Morgan. He loved his children dearly and always made sure they had everything they needed. He introduced them to the outdoors, baseball, wood working, country music and good scotch whiskey - just to name a few things. Ed had many hobbies that he enjoyed including baseball, golfing, cooking, gardening, and fishing. He was a great golfer and has a few hole-in-ones - one being on a Par 4. He loved cooking - always to music from Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell and the like. Many great memories were spent at "The Fish House" at Grand Lake. Ed was great at subtly making jokes and getting a good laugh out of folks. He was known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor and he passed those skills on to his children. Ed was straight forward but also knew how to live, laugh and love. Ed's presence will be missed but he will always be remembered by the lives he touched. This isn't goodbye, it is just goodbye for now.
