Obituary

Viewing will be held Tuesday & Wednesday 4-8pm at the funeral home. A Rosary will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 6:30 pm at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11am at Saint James the Greater Catholic Church(4201 S. McKinley, OKC, OK). Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens. Elena Espinosa Bruza passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the age of 92. Elena was born August 18, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the oldest of 16 children born to Sebastiana Ysac Espinosa. She married the love of her life, Steve Bruza, on January 31, 1951 and lived happily for 58 years until he passed on June 9, 2009. Elena was well accomplished in all her endeavors, even from a young age where she was one of the first female band members at Central High School. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 32 years where she became the first Hispanic Woman Section Chief of Calibration/ Metrology Program and earned many awards such as "Role Model for Equality Goals 1992-1995" and was "Hispanic Woman of the Year 1984." Elena was passionate about her volunteer work as a Reading Volunteer for Blanchard Schools and V.A. work where she received an award for "Outstanding V.A. Work 1991-1992." She also was a member of the Day Lilly Organization, the Red Hatters and President of the Extension Home Makers 1990-1991. She was best described as very persistent in being the best in all of her accomplishments. She will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her: Mother; Husband. Elena is survived by her loving: Sons: Raymond Bruza and Joseph T. McCann, Jr.; Grandchildren: Jessica Bruza, Christopher Bruza, Kaleb Bruza, Cole Bruza, Joseph McCann; Great Grandchildren: Syrus McCann and Rigel McCann.
