Obituary

Elizabeth Marguerite Schug Rowlette went home in Oklahoma City, OK to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Her passing occurred eight years to the day after that of the love of her life, Christopher Wayne Rowlette, whom she married July 6, 1984. Service: 2:30 pm Sunday, April 25th, at Cross City Church, 1000 Airport Freeway, Euless, TX, where flowers may also be sent. Interment: 10:30 am Friday, April 23rd, at Bethany Cemetery, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kids Beach Club at www.kidsbeachclub.org. Lisa was born on June 19, 1963, in Oklahoma City. She attended Putnam City West High School, where she met her husband-to-be, Chris, and went on to study education at the University of Oklahoma. Over her career, she taught speech, drama, and English Language Arts in Noble Public Schools, Dallas ISD, and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. Lisa's first year at HEBISD's Trinity High School was 1991-92. She accepted any teaching assignment, taught it well, and did it all with a happy heart. She was the consummate teacher who could teach any student, no matter their academic level. Lisa's favorite book to teach was Of Mice and Men. In 2000, she became Trinity's English Department Chair. In 2005, she was named HEBISD's Coordinator of Secondary English Language Arts. In 2014, Lisa felt called back to the classroom to teach English at KEYS (Keep Eligible Youth in School, Alternative Campus) until her retirement in 2018. In all, Lisa was an extraordinary educator who lovingly and wisely guided countless students and mentored many teachers. Lisa was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Euless (now Cross City Church) for over 25 years, where she served in youth ministry and sang in the choir and where she became part of a large community of dear friends who shared every part of life, the joys and the trials. With her Bosom Buddies at church, she exchanged encouragement on their shared cancer journey and got together regularly to have fun and celebrate life. With her Psalm Sisters, she lifted up prayer requests, often in the form of scripture. When she moved back to Oklahoma after retirement, she joined Cherokee Hills Baptist Church, where she contributed to the blog and women's ministry. Her last blog post was a love letter to "the only book that loved her back," the Bible. Lisa is survived by her children and great-niece and great-nephew, Corwin Wayne Rowlette, Nicole Elizabeth Rowlette, Hunter Liam Butler, and Julia Ann Butler, each of whom made her incredibly proud; her daughter-in-law and grandson, Lizzie and Anderson Rowlette; her mother, Margaret Ann Swanson; her sister and brother-in-law, Vicky and Will Langford; her niece Katie Butler; her niece and nephew-in-law Erin and Bryan Langford-Loftis; and her great-nephew Cole Langford-Loftis. She is also survived by Chris's family in Tennessee, Virginia, and Florida, including her father-in-law, Jim Rowlette; her brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Holly Rowlette; great-niece and great-nephews, Grace, Grant, and Peter Rowlette; and her brother-in-law, Bobby Bowling. She is preceded in death by her husband, Chris; father, Marion Elmo Schug; stepfather, Howard Swanson; and mother-in-law, Norma Rowlette.
