Obituary

Ernest "Ernie" Lee Norwood, born January 14, 1950, in Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at home in Oklahoma City surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters. He was a man remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and the joy he brought to everyone around him.

Ernie was preceded in death by his father X.L. Norwood and his mother Mary Josephine Harkins, who instilled in him the values of hard work, humor, and loyalty that shaped his life; grandson, Kaleb Lee Norwood and great grandson, Kylo Raylee Deere.

He is survived by his five children: Angela Garretson, Sean Norwood, Kyle Norwood, Michelle Fox, and Rachel Norwood; ten grandchildren: Blayne, Breanna, Bryce, Blake, Nathaniel, Cory, Aiden, Katelyn, Kadence, and Ronin; and three great-grandchildren: Smith, Sloan, and Dax. His family was his greatest pride, and he loved them with a full and generous heart.

Ernie spent his career working as a Brinks courier, a job he carried out with dedication, reliability, and quiet strength. He retired early and spent many years enjoying life exactly as desired: watching his grandchildren grow up and cheering for his favorite teams and players.

He had a lifelong love of The Beatles, and their music was a constant companion throughout his life. He was also an enthusiastic sports fan, faithfully cheering for the Oklahoma City Thunder, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the University of Oklahoma football, basketball, and softball. His humor and passionate reactions during games brought energy and laughter to everyone who watched with him.

Christmas was his favorite time of year, and he took great joy in decorating his home for the neighbors and spoiling those he loved. His festive spirit and beautifully lit displays created warmth and wonder for all who passed by.

Ernie was deeply loved and cherished, and his presence will be profoundly missed. His memory will endure through the stories, laughter, and love he shared so freely.

A quote from his favorite band, The Beatles—words written by Paul McCartney: "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
