Ernest "Paul" Quine passed away on June 10, 2025 in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Paul was born in Cordell, Oklahoma on July 15, 1931 to W.A. Quine and Ruby Mae (Nix) Quine. He attended Cordell schools until his parents relocated to Oklahoma City.
He graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City, in 1950. After graduation, Paul worked as a printer's helper in a wholesale print shop for a short time.
Paul was in the United States Air Force from April 1, 1951 to September 15, 1952. After the Air Force, he joined the Oklahoma Air National Guard on October 6, 1952 and served until he retired in 1970. Paul attended Oklahoma City University during his time in the service.
Paul was SMSgt (Senior Master Sergeant) of the 137th Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Squadron located at Will Rogers Field, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In June 1963, he was assigned to a special project that required access to classified information and/or materials up to and including Top Secret Cryptographics. This project, no longer in existence, was dubbed "The Talking Bird". In short, his special unit was assigned the task of setting up special communications, prior to the arrival of the President of the United States, any time he visited a foreign country. He did 4 presidential missions during the Kennedy years in Mexico, Venezuela, Ireland, and Italy.
After his retirement with 20 years in the Air National Guard, he worked another 20 years for the Federal Aviation Administration as an electronic technician in Oklahoma and Texas. In 1962 he received a special Presidential Commendation for his outstanding work in connection with the President's visit to South America.
Paul's hobbies included boating, fishing (like his father), bird hunting, carpentry (of which he was very good), and watching old John Wayne movies. Paul's accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1992 and was a member of the Methodist Church.
He was an exceptional man who was deeply loved and will be missed by us all.
He was preceded in death by his
Wife, Delores Ann Quine;
Parents;
2 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Paul is survived by his
children Joni Wells (Mike), Doug Quine (Kim), Jeff Quine (Ingrid),
his stepchildren, Donita Ort and Debalene Endsley
and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
