IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Estalita May
Ashby
December 10, 1937 – January 2, 2026
Estalita Ashby, 88, passed away on Friday January 2, 2026 at her residence in Edmond.
Estalita was born on December 10, 1937 in Red Rock, Oklahoma to James "Buck" Batt and Bernice Struble Batt. She attended schools in Wellston, Edmond and Ponca City.
In 1957, Estalita graduated from Ponca City High School. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Harrel Dean Ashby on September 14, 1957. They were blessed with 2 daughters, Terrill and Julie. Estalita was a loving wife, caring mother and exceptional grandmother. She loved taking care of her family and always made sure they knew how much they meant to her. Estalita and her family were long-time members at Edmond Church of Christ. As her health declined she was unable to attend, but still kept a close relationship with her Heavenly Father.
In the early 1970's, she founded "Star Modeling Agency" in Lawton, Oklahoma. She modeled in print and commercials for several stores enjoying the fun and excitement of meeting new people. Estalita was a member of the Oklahoma Association of Mothers Clubs (OAMC) and at one time served as state president. She was active with OAMC for nearly 30 years and made some long lasting friendships and great memories during that time. She and Dean were active in the Edmond chapter of the Jaycees and YMCA. She also stayed in contact with many of her Ponca City High classmates and always tried to make it a point to attend the reunions. Estalita most importantly served as a homeroom mother and Bluebirds leader for the girls as they were growing up.
Later in life, Estalita was blessed with three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother and spent a lot of her time helping to raise her little loves, often doing something unique to make special memories with each of them. Estalita was known to be an excellent chef. She could whip up a gourmet meal for eight on a moment's notice for family and friends who were always welcome at her table. Of note, her husband Dean and sons-in-law appreciated her Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts. They were epic.
Estalita traveled the world and enjoyed meeting new people. Some of her favorite places were the Swiss Alps, the English countryside, Hawaii, Morocco, Spain, skiing in Colorado, surf fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, cruising Alaska and the Caribbean. In fact, she never failed to land the biggest fish, at least that's the story.
Estalita will always be remembered for her innate charisma, a vivacious spirit, love for her family, and zest for life. This legacy will live on in the memories of her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her
