IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eual Buster
Wood
September 8, 1926 – November 2, 2024
Eual B. Wood, fondly known as "Buster" to friends and family, passed away on November 2, 2024 at the age of 98. Buster was born on September 8, 1926 to Hazel Lena (Stark) and Layton Monroe Wood of Stratford, OK. While growing up Buster attended Stratford High School until enlisting and honorably served his country in World War II as a member of the 97th Constabulary Signal Squadron, known as the "Circle C Cowboys." Although he downplayed his service, his contributions and commitment to duty reflected the same dedication he carried throughout his life. Upon his honorable discharge from military service, Buster married his beloved wife, Wanda Lea Alexander, on November 17, 1947, in Gainesville, Texas. Together they shared more than 55 years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters, Radonnna and Diana. Buster dedicated many years of his professional life to Stewart Sheet Metal and C.C. Cook Heating and Air, where he was a respected and valued member of both teams. He used his talents of sheet metal to aid in the construction of the Gold Dome building, Remington Park, the Lazy E Arena and the Myriad Gardens in OKC. His tenure as a foreman and sheetwork fabricator were marked by his dedication and pride in his work, embodying the same principles he held dear throughout his life. A man of many talents, Buster was also an avid sportsman. As a member of the Connie's Prescription Shop team, he achieved a feat he cherished for life: hitting the game-winning home run to beat the famous "King and His Court". That memorable moment, which he shared proudly, symbolized his competitive spirit and love for any sport. After opportunities to sign professionally, Buster instead chose to stay close to home, dedicating his life to family and community. Buster was a hunter at heart and truly loved hunting quail, turkey, deer or anything else he could. With this passion came the love of his dogs and training champion English Setters, Buster was well-known for his skill and dedication in training dogs, many of whom were named Suzy or Penny. Buster especially loved sharing his passion for the outdoors and his sportsman life with his grandchildren, passing on his love of hunting, dogs, fishing and nature of any kind, but he wouldn't let you forget his Oklahoma Sooners. Buster loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He always made the most of moments he spent with them, teaching them about life, valuable skillset and always being there for the ones you love and hold most dear. Buster left a tremendous legacy that will continue to live on through each of us and he will forever be held close in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents: wife: Wanda Lea Wood; brothers and their spouses: Carlon Wood, O.B. Wood & wife, Virginia; and Billy Joe Wood & wife, Betty; son-in-law: John Henry Ballard, Jr. Buster leaves behind his loving family: daughter, Radonna Smith and her husband, Larry; daughter, Diana Ballard; sisters: Naomi Tucker and Joyce Wood; grandchildren: Jason Ballard & his wife, Summer; Justin Ballard, Jessi Ballard & her husband, Michael Bennett; Shawn Smith & wife, Jeanna, Jarred Smith & partner, Kristen; and Leisha Carlson & her husband, Matt; 13 Great Grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; many other extended family & friends.
