Eugene Hill was called into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday January 21, 2022, in Oklahoma City at the age of 94 surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 20, 1927, in Dixonville, Pennsylvania, to Norman and Myrtle Hill. While he was in high school, he volunteered and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war ended, he returned home and graduated high school in 1947. He later attended the University of Pennsylvania studying engineering but then he heard God's calling into ministry and switched to Moody Bible Institute graduating in 1953. He was pastor, church planter and missionary. His first church was a Baptist Church in Tioga, Pennsylvania. While serving in Tioga, he became aware of an increasing number of young men in trouble with the law for the first time, who became second offenders, and either being sent to prison or let off too lightly without any kind of change of heart and possibly becoming a third offender. So, he and his wife started a work release program to rehabilitate first time offenders before being sent to prison and to give hope to changing their life. After this program, he went back to being a full-time pastor. He has lived all over the United States serving as a church planter, pastor, and missionary. His hobbies included remodeling, building houses, gardening, tinkering in the garage and teasing his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Donnie Hill whom he married on May 1, 1954, in Pekin, Illinois. His daughter Darla Wilson (Bill Wilson). His grandchildren Jonathan Wilson (Kristin Wilson), Larissa Wilson and Leslie Wilson (Rick Kloeckner). His great-grandchildren Aidan Wilson, Eloise Wilson, Nadine Wilson, and Pearl Wilson. And many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
He is also survived by his sister Yveetes Simpson and his sister-in-law Karen Leggott (Keith Leggott).
He is predeceased by his parents Norman and Myrtle Hill. His siblings Bill Hill, Bob Hill, Larue Ditch, Aldine Bame and Charles Hill.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 26th, 2022, at Metropolitan Bible Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM at the church and services following at 11:00 AM. Rick Hermanson will be officiating the services and niece Dawn Beckman will be performing the music selections. Graveside services to immediately follow will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
