Obituary

Evelyn Kay Dudley, Kay, was born in Brazil, Indiana on June 23, 1935 to Ross and Daisy Mercer. Kay was the fifth of five children. Kay went to nursing school in St. Louis, Missouri in 1954 where she met the love of her life, Thomas Fredrick Webb Dudley of Oklahoma City, OK. They were married six weeks later and proceeded to have 3 children, Stephen Webb, Andria Pasch, and Brittanie Kay. After a period of time in Fort Sill, the family moved to Birmingham, Alabama where Kay practiced pediatric nursing. Two years later they relocated to Oklahoma City where Tom started his practice in Oral Surgery. In the mid 1960's Tom and Kay, because of their love for their country and their community, became active in local politics. In 1986 Kay was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate, District 44, in which she served for 4 years. She served as Director of Appointments for Governor Frank Keating from 1995 to 2003. She was interim Secretary of State during the last six months of Frank Keating's term at which time she retired from active involvement in politics. She continued to serve behind the scenes for countless members of the Republican Party. During all of her time serving in politics her relationship with Jesus Christ defined who she was and dictated her path through life. Kay had a passion for young women and their relationship with Jesus, which led her to be a Sunday school teacher, serve with the Esther Women, sit on the board of the Hope Pregnancy Center and volunteer countless hours in service to the Church. She had no greater calling in life than being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Dudley, her parents, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Stephen Dudley, his wife RaChel and their children Jordan, Lauren, Olivia, and Greyson, their spouses and 11 grandchildren; daughter Andria Whaley, her husband Kent and their children Cameron and Pascha, their spouses and their 9 grandchildren; daughter Brittanie Harner, and her husband David and their children Madison and Collin. Kay lived a very blessed life and was loved and admired by many.
