Evelyn Francis, a devoted Christian, beloved sister, and dedicated caregiver, passed away on August 3, 2026, leaving a profound legacy of faith, service, and love. 

Born at home on January 9, 1943, in Davis, Oklahoma—delivered by her loving grandmother—she was the eldest of seven children born to Annie Mabel Moore and Temp A. Forbes. As the firstborn, Evelyn learned the value of dedication early, entering the workforce at a young age. Her vibrant spirit shone bright in her youth; she loved to swim and spent cherished moments at the Lions Club camp, where her natural talent graced the stage and her voice echoed over the radio waves.

Her life was defined above all by her unwavering faith and her commitment to helping others. A faithful member of her church for 63 years, Evelyn nurtured the faith of countless souls as a Sunday school teacher. Evelyn was a long-time member at Woodland Hill Baptist Church in Newcastle. Her heart for service extended seamlessly into her professional life, where she spent many dedicated years caring for patients as a surgical technician and surgical nurse at St. Anthony Hospital.

Evelyn’s warm heart, strong leadership as the eldest sibling, and lifelong dedication to God and her community will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Timothy.

She is survived by her son, Mitch Francis Jr. and wife Marquita; Daughter, Laura Francis; Sisters, Francis & Carolyn; Brothers, Glen & Cecil; Four Grandchildren: Lyndsay Atkinson and husband Nick; Cody Maness, Mitchel Francis III, Benjamin Francis, great grandchildren Seth Maness, Hayden Atkinson and wife Jordan, and Trenton Atkinson; great-great granddaughter, Sofia Atkinson, as well as numerous extended family, church community, and the many lives she touched throughout her dedicated career and ministry.
