Evelyn Ann Thomas

Evelyn Ann Thomas passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the age of 85. Evelyn was born on May 10, 1938 in Newton, Kansas to her parents, Jake N. and Bertha Edna (Wittmeyer) Kasper. In 1959, Evelyn married the love of her life, John Wesley Thomas and they shared 56 wonderful years together. This union of marriage was blessed with three daughters and a son. Evelyn was a devout member of Hillcrest Christian Church, where she was active in helping with the Mobile Meals program and Christian Women's Fellowship. Evelyn was also a volunteer for the Oklahoma Election Board along with her husband for many years. Most of all, Evelyn loved spending time with her grandchildren at family get to-gathers and especially loved cooking for the family. Evelyn will be greatly missed.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her:

Parents;

Husband of 56 years, John Wesley Thomas, who died June 3, 2016;

Daughter, Sandra Thomas;

Brothers: Walter, Clifford, and Roy Kasper.

Evelyn leaves cherished memories with her:

Daughter, Sherry Tomberlin and her husband, Joe;

Daughter, Candy Sponsler;

Son, Darren Thomas and his wife, Tammie;

Grandson, Adam Tomberlin and his wife, Avery;

Granddaughter, Emily Sharp and her husband, Chris;

Granddaughter, Gracie Sponsler;

Great Grandchildren: Sophie, Robyn, William, and Mac;

As well as many other extended family and dear friends.

Viewing will be held 1:00 – 6:00 PM Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at the Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave location. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 6, 2024 at the McGill Cemetery in Potwin, Kansas. Friends may leave condolences at www.vondelsmithmortuary.com.
