Obituary

Florence Ellen Apple, fondly known as Ellen by her family and friends, entered Heaven's gates and received her Heavenly reward on Sunday, August10, 2025, at the age of 80 years old. The daughter of Owen and Letha (Eagan) Dallas, Ellen was born on June 23, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ellen grew up attending OKC Schools where she was the social butterfly. Upon graduating from Capitol Hill High School, Ellen continued her educational pursuit at Bethany Nazarene College, studying in a field of Elementary Education. While in high school, Ellen met a handsome young gentleman by the name of Dale Apple and the two were quite smitten with each and became inseparable high school sweethearts. Their love blossomed and the two were united in holy matrimony in 1965. This union was blessed with a son, Shawn. Together, they shared more than 60 years of a wonderful and loving marriage together until Dale's recent passing on March 12, 2025. In addition to being a loving wife, devoted mother and dedicated homemaker, Ellen also worked as an elementary school teacher for 25 years during which time she completed her Master's Degree program. Throughout the years, Ellen had a tremendous impact and wonderful difference daily in the young lives of the students. Ellen served as a vital role in the successes of each capacity within the school and where she served others with all of her heart, having made many dear friends she cherished and spent time outside of work with. Ellen's family was the center of her world. Being there for her son, Shawn was her first priority. Always making certain their every need and want was at the forefront of her focus. Ellen's love for her family was unwavering and unconditional, especially when it came to being a Granny to her two grandchildren, Tyler and Lindsey. In her spare time, Ellen also enjoyed many hobbies such as cross stitching and researching genealogy and ancestry of her family. At an early age, Ellen accepted the Lord in her heart and strived to live a life honoring and serving the Lord. She attended Trinity Church of the Nazarene and whatever way she could use her time, talents and skills to serve others and fill needs. Ellen was a true exemplified a Proverbs 31 woman! Her genuineness, generosity and servant's heart was a true testament of God's love and her love for the Lord! She loved and lived life with zest and embraced trials and victories with grace! She made the most of her moments, especially those spent with her kids and grandkids. They were the truest joy and center of Ellen's life. The magnitude of positive inspiration and influence that Ellen had on others has helped shape their lives for joy and success. Ellen wasn't one to sit still very long. Whether she was travelling, going to supporting her grandkids in each of their endeavors, out shopping, watching movies, attending church, listening to music, crafting and sewing, sharing her homemade gifts Ellen made many wonderful friends and special memories she created. Known for her wonderful and jovial sense of humor and quick wit, will be fondly remembered for her loving, giving and kind spirit. Ellen loved with all of her heart and will be deeply missed each day.

She was preceded in death by her:

Parents, Owen and Letha Dallas;

Beloved Husband of 60 years, Dale Apple;

Brother-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Ferrel Apple, Suzie Apple and Jeanie Apple.

Ellen leaves behind her loving family:

Son, Shawn Apple;

Grandson, Tyler Apple;

Granddaughter, Lindsey Odom and her husband, Styllon Wright;

Great Grandchildren: Elizabeth Matthews, Madilynn Wright and Lily Wright;

Brother-in-law, Bill Apple;

Sister-in-law & Brother-in-law, Darlene & Tom Walter;

Brother-in-law, Rick Apple.

Viewing and visitation will be held at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S. Western Ave., from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday. A service to honor and celebrate Ellen's life will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 7301 S. Walker Ave burial following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
