Florence Earline Smiley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, went to be with our Lord and Savior in Heaven, her eternal home, on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the age of 88. She was born on November 22, 1934 in Konawa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Earl Gilbert and Barbara Faye (Howell) Clark. Soon after graduating high school, Florence married her one and only true love and husband of 67 years, Mervyn Dale Smiley on October 9, 1953 in Dallas, Texas. Mervyn and Earline's union was blessed with three daughters: Tanya, Tera and Starla. Earline worked for 20 years as an administrative assistance at U.S. Grant High School. Before this time, she was a stay-at-home mom who took care of other children in the home. Earline and Mervyn attended Knob Hill Baptist Church for over 40 years. Earline was the children's nursery school director for many years. She loved taking care of the babies. Earline had a heart of gold and a nurturing soul. Anyone who met her would describe her as one of the sweetest people they had ever known. Her beautiful smile would light up a room. She was a very compassionate person and in return she gained many lifelong true friends. An excellent cook, Earline always made enough food for any unexpected visitors, no matter what time of the day or night. She was also a very talented seamstress as well. Earline could sew anything, including a prom dress and a wedding dress for one of her daughters. She enjoyed camping at Lake Texoma every summer and frying up fish that Mervyn caught. She adored her grandchildren, as they adored her. She was their "Nana" and no one compared. She provided a safe, loving home for her family with unconditional love; the kind of unconditional love that you have when Christ is the center of your life. We are so very blessed to have her and our Dad for parents. Words are not enough for how grateful we are. Our hearts rejoice that they are together again but our tears are over flowing.
