Obituary

Floydine Jewel Courdin (Flo) passed away January 11, 2022. She was preceded in death by her high-school sweetheart and husband of fifty-three years, Max Courdin, in 2005. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and John Bills, Karen and Bill Price, and Kristy and Don Dewberry, her grandchildren, Jana Neely, Jill Richards, Kara Fleming, Robbie Bills, Chris Pickens, Brent Pickens, Aaron Price, Sarah Koonce, Brian Dewberry and Kelly Dewberry as well as a flock of precious great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Flo was born on May 28, 1934 in Springfield, Missouri. She held a variety of careers through her life – as an employee of the S&H Green Stamps Redemption Center, a bank teller, and an administrative job at Gulf Oil & Gas. She no doubt excelled at them all, but even more so in her role of mother and grandmother. All three daughters agree that she was their greatest cheerleader during the good times and a shoulder to cry on during the hard times. If they were in the hospital, so was she, sleeping on an uncomfortable cot or chair in the corner. Holidays weren't complete without her homemade fudge and Christmas Bingo. And don't even get them started on her birthday cakes with buttercream icing.
Flo and Max loved all forms of travel – cruise ships, passenger trains, airplanes and road trips. They were 'snow birds' in their retirement years, usually wintering in Ana Marie, Florida. When they weren't traveling, they were planning their next trip or relaxing at their lake place.

Alzheimer's may have stolen Flo's memories toward the end of her life, but her loved ones have them safely tucked into their hearts until they meet again. Family members take comfort and joy in picturing her Heavenly reunion with those who arrived before her, including her little brother, Terry Lynn Mahaney, who left this earth April 18, 1953 at the age of eleven.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Spanish Cove Retirement Community, Frontier Hospice and Chaplain Cord. Not only did they take wonderful care of Flo, they genuinely loved her.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
