Obituary

McWilliams, Freda Mae Caughern Stewart beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away April 18, 2009 with her family at her bedside. She was born October 6, 1923, one of nine children, to Christopher Columbus Caughern and Francis Viola Caughern at Hodgens, Oklahoma. In 1943, she married and raised a family with Robert T. Stewart. She was married to Guy F. McWilliams, a fine man, from 1970 until his death in 1986. In 1990 she began a devoted friendship with Howard "Van" Hook which lasted until his death in 2000. She is remembered dearly by her family and friends for her warm and caring nature. She was a naturally friendly person and there are many stories, from friends, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews of how she brightened many peoples'days and lives with her beautiful welcoming smile. She loved her comfortable home and her many flowers and garden. Two of her treasured and much loved companions for the last several years have been her Cats, Jordy and Journey and she delighted in telling stories of their adventures and antics. She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, her mother and father, brothers Billy and Zelvert, sisters Gladys and M.A. and by her friend "Van". She is survived by daughter, Linda; son Robert; stepson Guy McWilliams, wife Pat and family; grandsons Bryan D. Stewart and wife Dr. Darlene Mininni of Northridge, CA; Bret A. Stewart and fiancée Janis Eggleston of Austin, TX; great granddaughter Sophia Mininni Stewart of Northridge, CA; brother Charles Caughern of Hodgens; sister Paralee Keeney of Plainview, AR; sister Evelyn Widmire and husband Floyd of Hodgens; sister Jeanette Wickware and husband L.G. of Hodgens, and by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express special thanks to Chaplain Bob Merrill and the nursing staff of the third and sixth floors at Southwest Integris Medical Center for the extraordinary care she received in her final days, and to Drs. Louie Wall and Saeed Ahmad and their staffs for their care during the last few years. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Central Hillcrest Baptist Church, 6100 South Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City. Private family graveside services will be held later. Visitation at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 6934 S Western Ave, OKC, visitation will be today April 24th and April 25th from 4 to 8 PM. Friends may leave condolences at: www.vondelsmithmortuary.com
