Obituary

On the arms of angels, Gary entered the beautiful heavens of eternity on Monday, March 17, 2025. He was 84 years old.

Gary was born to Leo and Virginia (Monasmith) Rohlmeier on May 14, 1940 in Du Bois, Nebraska. In 1957, Gary graduated from Humboldt High School and four years later on May 28, 1961, Gary married the love of his life, Lyla Diane Hill.

After tying the knot, Gary and Lyla moved to Oklahoma, where they raised four boys: Kent, Keith, Kurt and Lyle.

Gary was always ambitious and hard working. As a teen he raised pigs and farmed corn on his grandpa's farm. His hard work paid off and he was able to buy his first car. This was the beginning of a passion for anything with a motor, that would last a lifetime.

This passion lead him to become a legendary crane operator. Coupled with his drive for success he purchased a crane to start his first business.

Through the years Gary and Lyla owned the following successful businesses: Crane Service, Jack Adams Trucking, Rent a Crane and K & R Builders.

Lyla called Gary her "energizer bunny" due to his energetic personality and love for life. He had the biggest, most generous heart. No matter the need, Gary would make the impossible possible.

Gary is survived by his beautiful wife of almost 64 years, Lyla Rohlmeier; sons: Keith (Lisa) Rohlmeier, Kurt (Adrianna) Rohlmeier, and Lyle (Debbie) Hill; grandchildren: Christo (Lianne) Rohlmeier, Keisha (Luke) Olson, Megan Rohlmeier, Vivian Rohlmeier, Tiffanie (Andy) Karber, Trent Hill, Tye Hill; Great-grandchildren Gaige Pyles, Rylie Pyles, Addison Birkes, Lane Olson, Wells Olson, Worth Olson, Colter Karber, Cooper Karber and Cohen Karber, Brother, Terry (Margaret) Rohlmeier, and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Virginia Rohlmeier; son, Kent Rohlmeier; brother, Bill Rohlmeier and two sisters: Betty Williamson and Vicki Piatt.

A special 'Thank You' to all of the wonderful caring Doctors and Nurses at Mercy Hospital during his very brief stay.

Gary will be greatly missed but his family and friends take comfort in knowing that he lived his life to the fullest.

Let's hope that heaven has fast cars, loud pipes and no speed limits!
