Gary Alan
Sanders

There will be no public viewing.
A Memorial Service will be 3:00 PM, Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the South Lakes Chapel of Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 4000 SW 119th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73173.
Gary Alan Sanders missed his 70th birthday by 9 days when he received his eternal reward on July 28, 2023. The son of Midge (Coyle) and Charles Sanders, Gary was born on August 6, 1953 in Clinton, Oklahoma. Gary spent his childhood years living in Cordell, Oklahoma and moved with his family to Yukon in 1968 where he graduated from Yukon High School in 1972.
After graduation, Gary attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford. His professional career began in the service and parts departments at Mid-America GMC and Oklahoma Kenworth. Gary then took his sales experience to join his long-time friend, Jim Mainard with the heating and air industry. In 2002, Gary purchased the company, Mainard and Sanders Heating & Air, to serve as the president and owner for 21 additional years with the management help of his brother, John Winham.
Over the years, Gary enjoyed many different hobbies including water skying, fishing, riding motorcycles, snow skiing, attending gun shows and visiting car shows. Gary was a collector of oil and gas memorabilia and loved to restore old cars. Every family and friend that knew Gary well would tell you his favorite way to spend time was with his daughter Beth and grandson Zane at the track on the weekends watching Zane race his motorcycles.
Besides cherishing time with family, Gary would open his heart and home to any family or friend that needed help. Gary was a firm believer that everyone deserved a second chance and he wanted to be that one loving person to teach them his life experiences and provide support. His generosity to those less fortunate deserves special mention.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Midge and Charles Sanders and his wife of 32 years, Rhonda Sanders. He leaves behind his daughter, Beth Young and husband Joe Sears, his sister, Sue and her husband Mike Pyle, his sister, Ronda Sanders, three brothers, Terry, Dan and John Winham, niece Sarah Burris and his very special grandson, Zane Young. Gary was loved and will be missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
