Gayle Gordon Welcher, 84 years old, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly on September 8, 2025. Gayle graduated from O.U. Law School in 1966 and taught at O.U. for several years.

A beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and pioneering businesswoman, Gayle's spirit, wit, and boundless generosity touched everyone who had the good fortune to know her. There was truly no one like Gayle. She lived with a spark that drew people in and a personality that filled a room.

For over 40 years, she poured her heart into Gordon Stuart, a top designer women's boutique. It was where people came to feel special, to laugh, and spend time with Gayle. She was the kind of friend who showed up without question, who loved without condition, and who told you the truth whether you wanted to hear it or not. She could be short, blunt, and she never sugar-coated anything – but that was exactly what made her loved. Her passions ran deep, both for her Christian Science faith and for her love of O.U. sports. Saturdays were for the Sooners.

Her loyalty and her spirit, both for football and for life, never waivered. We will carry her with us always, smiling through our tears, grateful for the gift of her life.
