Obituary

Gene Elwin Dick was born on March 1, 1943 in Winnebago, Minnesota to Albert and Erma (Jenkins) Dick. He was the 3rd child of five. He passed away July 23, 2026 at his home in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 83.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda (Morrison) Dick of the home. A daughter, Melissa Gail (Dick) Hartzell and husband Randy of Oklahoma City. One son, Myron Gene Dick and wife Karis of Tuttle, OK. Four grandsons, Quentin Hartzell of OKC, OK, Trevin Dick, Jaxen Dick, and Harper Dick of Tuttle, OK. Sister, Diane Wedge and husband Ken of Wessington, SD and Sister-in-law, Rhonda Ferguson of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Erma Dick, 2 brothers, Herber and Wallace (Wally) Dick and 1 sister, Sharon and spouse Wes Anderson, as well as a host of other family members.

He graduated in 1961 from Miller High School in Miller, South Dakota. He served his country in the US Airforce from 1962-1965 at Lowry AFB, Colorado and Altus AFB in Oklahoma. He met and married Linda Morrison on April 18, 1969 and moved to Antlers, OK where he was employed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1997. He then worked for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) until his stroke in November of 2002.

He lived life to the fullest of his ability, regardless of his physical limitations. He made a friend of every person he met with his quick witted jokes and silly quips. The greatest loves in his life were his family, especially his four grandsons. After his stroke, his day pretty much revolved around the television. His schedule usually consisted of Fox News, Gunsmoke, Southern Gospel Music, Jimmy Swaggart sermons (past and present) and the Family Worship Center Singers. He loved Thunder basketball, OU football and softball and was an avid supporter of the Little League World Series. As a walking, breathing testimony of God’s grace and sustaining power, he never failed to tell others about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
