Obituary

George Berthold Henschel, 79, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Oklahoma City. He was born on October 23, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Esther Naomi (Watson) and Berthold Albert Henschel. George married the love of his life, Angeles "Elly" Emnace Geonzon, and together they shared 54 wonderful years.

George retired from the Navy in 1972 after serving as a Communication Technician Third Class and Radioman. Guided by his lifelong mantra, "live to serve others," he devoted himself to helping communities both locally and abroad. With his wife, he helped launch a Mobile Meals program that continues to operate today, reflecting their shared commitment to serving those in need.

He later returned to college, earning a degree with honors in Sociology from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1999. This path led him to Aging Services of Cleveland County in Moore, where he worked as a Social Services Management Supervisor, overseeing five nutrition sites and a home-delivery program until retiring in 2021 to enjoy travel and family. Even in retirement, George continued his service, helping coordinate an additional Mobile Meals location to support seniors and the homebound.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Cile Bolles, and his parents, Berthold and Esther Henschel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angeles "Elly" Henschel; daughter, Jennifer Blevins; son-in-law, Jonathan Blevins; and grandson, Jayden Blevins, along with numerous family members and friends.

A devoted father, husband, friend, and Christian, George lived a life guided by service, kindness, and generosity. His compassion left a lasting mark on countless lives, near and far, and his legacy will continue to inspire. He will be deeply missed.
